Owner Michael Cleveland (Grover) was asked to join the league as a senior at Texas A&M. Based on his last name, the Dawg Pound moniker was a logical choice. Unfortunately, having a name associated with one of the worst NFL teams, combined with the fact that the only hardware earned as Dawg Pound was the Cheerleader Trophy (for worst team in the league) necessitated a franchise name change. The new franchise name, The Blue Monster, comes from two sources: 1) Michael has been know as Grover since he was 12 years old, and 2) He is a die-hard Red Sox fan and their stadium (Fenway Park) is known for its famous left field wall called “The Green Monster”. Since the name change, Grover earned his first ever Points Championship in 2024.
